Muscat: Swan International recently hosted a grand fashion show at the Muscat Bay, showcasing collections of the company’s title brand.
The company, run by HH Aliya bint Thuwaini Al Said and her daughter Sheikha Omaima Al Hosni, has a number of top brands under it, including Liu Jo Milano, Max&Co, Pennyblack, and Trussardi. “Swan was founded four years ago.
“We started with Furla and Liujo, three years ago. Liège Men and Pennyblack were the first stores in the GCC,” said Sayyida Aliya Al Said.

She added, “What we did today was we combined the four brands and introduced them to Oman’s markets. We wanted to show the type of styles these brands offer. Everything that was shown at the fashion show was the spring-summer collection.”
All clothes displayed during the event will soon be available in the company’s stores in Panorama Mall. “We wanted to bring something different to Oman. That is why we involved the Italian brands as I didn’t see many Italian designs in Oman,” she said.
Al Hosni, who is a qualified fashion designer, said, “Everything that was shown here was chosen by me. I didn’t want it to be clichéd. Just because it is the Middle East, the clothes don’t have to be covered. We are an open-minded country and I wanted to show that.”
She added, “This message was not just for the Omanis, but also for people visiting the country.”
The event, which was attended by members of the royal family and other dignitaries, turned out to be a grand success, opening doors for more innovative and creative fashion shows in the country. “We wish that we can have a fashion week in Oman,” concluded Al Said.
