Tennis: Charlie clinches U-10 title at ISC tourney

Muscat: Charlie Sennhauser won the under-10 singles title at the ISC-Muscat Pharmacy Open Junior Tennis Tournament organized by the Indian Social Club (ISC).
In the final, Charlie played with confidence and showed no signs of nerves to capture the under-10 title with a convincing 8-1 victory over Advait Sreekumar.
It was Charlie’s first title triumph in his second appearance at the ISC Open and the manner in which he went about his demolition act, the future augurs well for the Swiss lad.
Kaavya Jayakumar and Safanah Al Riyami justified their top seeding in the girls under-14 category when they emerged into the final with impressive victories in their respective semifinals.

Top seed Kaavya was confidence personified as she downed Stuti Mathur with a convincing 6-1, 6-3 margin while second seed Safanah emerged from a dramatic see-saw semifinal against Kira Malakhova before edging to a 6-0, 2-6, 10-8 victory.
Kira fought back well after the mauling she receiving in the first set and was 0-2 down in the second when she reeled off the next six games to level at on-set all. In the decider super tie-breaker, scores went neck-and-neck and as Kira kept up the fight and saved two match points before Safanah sealed the issue.
Top seed Vivek Kolluru will take on Surya Mariappan in the final of the boys under-14 singles.
