Muscat bourse recovers on better support

Muscat: The MSM30 Index gained 0.23 per cent to close above the 5,000-threshold at 5,002.69 points. MSM Sharia Index closed at 713.37 points, up by 0.24 per cent. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. Up by 3.90 per cent, NBO was the top gainer, while Al Jazeera Services was the top loser, down by 1.80 per cent.
A total number of 518 trades were executed on Monday, generating a turnover of OMR1.98 million with 11.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded securities, 11 advanced, 7 declined and 15 remained unchanged. GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR314,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR283,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR31,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.35 per cent to close at 7,368.01 points. NBO, Alizz Bank, Vision Insurance, Bank Sohar and Bank Muscat increased by 3.90 per cent, 2.60 per cent, 0.69 per cent, 0.65 per cent and 0.51 per cent, respectively. United Finance, Al Madina Takaful and BankDhofar declined by 1.52 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.94 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,742.52 points, up by 0.20 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics and Raysut Cement gained 1.57 per cent and 0.50 per cent, respectively. Oman Fisheries, down by 0.75 per cent, was the sole sector loser.
Services Index closed at 2,601.77 points, up by 0.06 per cent. MCDC, OIFC, Renaissance Services and National Gas increased by 1.24 per cent, 0.77 per cent, 0.66 per cent and 0.34 per cent, respectively. Al Jazeera Services and Omantel declined by 1.80 per cent and 1.32 per cent, respectively.
