Two forts in Oman now open to public

Muscat: The Al Hila and Al Khandaq forts have now been reopened for tourists. The forts were closed after renovation and maintenance work was taken up by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture.

In a statement online, the ministry said, “The project of restoration and maintenance of the Al Khandaq fort started in May 2015. The fort is surrounded by a trench that was used to defend the structure against enemies.

“The design of this historic fort also shows the diversity of architectural models in the Sultanate between the different governorates.”
