Bank Muscat honoured for innovative CSR initiatives

Muscat: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, was honoured in recognition of its innovative corporate social responsibility initiatives and contributions to sustainable development at the CSR awards ceremony hosted by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, chairman of Majlis Addawla. Fatma Al Maskiry, AGM – SME & Trade Business, received the appreciation memento from the guest of honour on the occasion.
Fatma Al Maskiry said, “Bank Muscat is proud to receive the OCCI honour in recognition of its unique CSR initiatives. As a forward-looking financial institution, Bank Muscat is at the forefront in contributing to society and thereby setting a fine example for the corporate sector to develop social responsibility as a corporate culture. As the pioneer of CSR activities in the banking sector in Oman, the bank has implemented several initiatives benefiting various segments of society and remains committed to sustainable development.”
The CSR and sustainability strategy pursued by Bank Muscat is focused on delivering long-term benefits to the community and the nation. The Imprints initiative is the first-of-its-kind in Oman in terms of its scope and reach, seeking to unite different segments of people in making a big difference in reciprocating to what the country has given them. The Imprints initiative has four key programmes to inculcate financial literacy, sustain the green environment, encourage enriched lifestyle and promote sustainable tourism.
The Green Sports initiative has proven to be a thoroughly successful model for engaging the local community in establishing a modern sporting infrastructure in the country. The support to develop modern sports infrastructure across the Sultanate complements the government efforts in building a sporting nation.
Jesr Al Mustaqbal educational support offered by the bank covers students from low income or social welfare families. The programme in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education provides educational and vocational training support, including sponsorship to complete bachelor degree programmes.
The Tadhamun programme launched by Bank Muscat in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development reaches out to social welfare families across the Sultanate, helping them to cope with the arid weather conditions. The programme is focused on the distribution of basic electronic home appliances, including air-conditioners and refrigerators, to help people enjoy comfortable living conditions.
The bank’s al Wathbah SME Academy supports the growth of small and medium enterprises across the Sultanate. All CSR programmes draw from the bank’s values of leadership and partnership, creating a positive impact on society. As the bank progresses on the path of sustainable development, new opportunities are explored. In line with the corporate ethos, bank employees are engaged in creating opportunities to help the community through various initiatives.
