Muscat: Orpic took part in the 16th International Middle East and Africa Exhibition for Plastic Industries (Plastex) 2018 in Cairo from January 18 – 21.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Khalid Abu Al-Makarem, chairman of the Export Council for Chemicals and Fertilisers and in the presence of a number of Egyptian government officials.

Gilles Rochas, general manager, Polymer Marketing, Orpic said on this occasion, "Driven by Orpic's vision be a globally competitive, downstream business that Oman is proud of, it is vital for us to be part of major international plastic exhibitions to connect with our customers, exchange expertise and identify new potential markets."

Orpic booth at Plastex showcased a wide range of plastic products which are made from the company's polypropylene plants and being distributed to more than 60 countries worldwide.

"The Egyptian market represents a strategic importance of our product outreach across the global markets; hence comes our participation to ensure our commitment, quality services and best customer experience of the Luban brand to the Egyptian market," Rochas added.

Upon the commissioning Orpic's Liwa Plastics Industries Complex (LPIC) in 2020, the plastics production is forecast to have increased by more than 1 million tonnes, giving Orpic a total of 1.4 million tonnes of polyethylene and polypropylene production. The project will transform Orpic’s product mix and business model, double company profit, create new business opportunities, generate significant employment opportunities and support the development of a downstream plastics industry in Oman.

It is worth mentioning that Plastex is a leading exhibition in North Africa and one of the most prominent events in the region. The exhibition focuses on plastic machinery, components, raw materials and chemicals in North and East Africa.
