“We are pleased to open Oman’s first charging station. We hope this will be an important initiative to begin the adoption of electric vehicles in Oman,” said Ben Pullen, managing director at Global EVRT, at the launch ceremony.
Sheikh Mohanna bin Saif Al Lamki, Governor of North Al Batinah region, officiated at the opeing of the charging station.
The convoy reached Oman on Friday night in EVs that included the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model S. The nine-day road trip will continue to the capital city of Muscat, where many more charging stations will be opened.
The Crowne Plaza Sohar station can charge four EVs simultaneously.
Earlier in Abu Dhabi, the convoy launched stations at the Tilal Liwa Hotel and the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi.
