Public Prosecution: Fake accounts spreading rumours about Oman being tracked

Muscat: An official from the public prosecution explained that most of the rumors spread about the Sultanate of Oman have been proven to come from fake accounts from outside the country and accounts are being tracked continuously.

Dr. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Shukaili, Assistant Public Prosecutor, said: There is continuous coordination with the competent authorities to track down fake accounts that spread rumors on social media platforms, and It has been proven that most of them are broadcast from outside the Sultanate of Oman, and the public prosecution relies on community awareness to address them.”

Regarding the publication of judgments and the names of convicts in the media outlets, His Excellency the Public Prosecutor explained at the annual press conference of the Public Prosecution that the publication of judgments and names is one of the complementary penalties and in some cases it is considered a secondary penalty, and its publication in the media is by a court ruling.
