Riyada announces 18 retail stores for SMEs in Oman

Muscat: Eighteen retail stores are to open at the Al Araimi Boulevard, Al Rwad Market, after being approved by the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development (Riyada).
Riyada announced its decision to allocate 18 retail stores to registered SME owners under its agreement with the Al Rwad Market association.
SME owners can register on its website for the opportunity to operate the stores. By providing these outlets, Riyada wants to promote small enterprises and their products, according to officials.
Before the Araimi Boulevard Mall, Riyada had an agreement with the Nizwa Grand Mall, where it opened retail stores.
Besides providing business incubation opportunities, Riyada helps in opening retail outlets, as well as monitoring them.
It also provides financial and procedural exemptions, such as reducing rents from OMR25 - OMR35 per metre to OMR12 - OMR14 for registered projects in Riyada.
Those applicants applying at Al Rwad market must have commercial and marketing experience, and be Omani nationals.
The targeted sectors for such developments are: dates, incense, women’s accessories, textiles (Omani fashion), handicrafts, and Omani halwa. Those interested can register at riyada.om. The deadline for registration is Thursday, January 18, 2018.
