Oman shares end marginally lower

Muscat: Oman’s benchmark MSM30 Index ended negatively at 5,099.53 points, down 0.13 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.14 per cent to 717.70 points. Al Sharqia Investment was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Al Suwadi Power, up 2.82 per cent, was the top gainer while Renaissance Services, down 1.91 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 620 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating a turnover of OMR1.34 million with 8.25 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 6 advanced, 8 declined, and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani Investors were net buyers for OMR118,000 while Foreign Investors were net sellers for OMR70,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR48,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index was stable at 7,569.55 points, down 0.03 per cent. Al Anwar Holding and Al Madina Takaful gained 1.96 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively. Taageer Finance, NBO, Vision Insurance and Bank Muscat declined 1.59 per cent, 0.99 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.11 per cent to close at 6,844.64 points. Oman Fisheries and Raysut Cement lost 0.65 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 2,651.54 points, up 0.19 per cent. Al Suwadi Power, National Gas, Al Batinah Power and Phoenix Power increased 2.82 per cent, 1.69 per cent, 1.45 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services and Ooredoo declined 1.91 per cent and 0.77 per cent respectively.
