Cricket: MCS, ISC, OCT Seeb win; Muzahir stars for PSM

Muscat: Muscat Cricket Sports (MCS) rode on their consistent scorer Mohsin Nazir’s yet another vital knock to beat White Lotus by four runs in a thrilling Al Ansari Group-sponsored B Division match at the Muscat Municipality Ground I in Al Amerat.
Invited to bat first, MCS posted a healthy 206 on the board before being all out in exactly 30 overs. Mohsin led the way with a fluent 49 off 47 balls. Ahmed Khan (40 off 39) and Vishal Vagaida (35 off 23) also made vital contributions with the bat. Syed Azam, Davinder Kumar and Muhammed Nadeem Ashaq all bagged two wickets each for White Lotus.
Nadeem Ashaq scored a brilliant 118 off 97 balls but failed to win the game for White Lotus as it could manage only 202 for 7 in its quota of 30 overs.
Syed Kazmi and Bharat Barmeda claimed two wickets each.

ISC trounce EY
In another B Division game, Indian Social Club (ISC) handed Ernst & Young (EY) an embarrassing 102-run hiding at the Muscat Municipality Ground II.
Batting first, ISC scored a massive 245 for five in 30 overs. Mahek Ashar topscored with a fluent 57 off 47 balls. Shrey Wilson (54 off 56), Ansar Raza (51 not out off 29) and captain Chethan Mallya (34 off 30) were the other main scorers. Bowling his medium paced cutters, Kiran Joshi bagged two wickets.
ISC bowled with great discipline, making things even tougher for EY who were struggling to chase a big total. EY were finally dismissed for 143 in the 19th over.
Muhammed Attique (31 off 20), Omar Sarfaraz (31 off 16) and Raza Zeeshan (28 off 23) were the only batsmen who faced ISC bowling boldly. Shreyas, Chethan Mallya and Shrey Wilson claimed two wickets each.

Sufyan stars for OCT Seeb

Star Omani all-rounder Sufyan Mahmood powered OCT Seeb to an exciting seven-wicket win against Basta CT in a Raha Poly Products-sponsored C Division match at Muscat Municipality Ground I.
Basta was off to a good start and comfortably placed at 71 for one in the 10th over before a dramatic collapse left it reeling at 98 for six in the 15th over. By the 20th over the whole side was skittled out for 137, Prasad Perulli (34 off 28) and Chaitanya Ravindran (34 off 37) being the main scorers. Issam Al Balushi bagged three wickets while Younis Al Balushi took two.
OCT Seeb overhauled the total without much trouble as Sufyan batted brilliantly to score an unbeaten 56 off 44. Brothers Yousuf Al Balushi (39 off 28) and Issa Al Balushi (33 off 17) were the other notable scorers.

Muzahir’s ton lifts PSM
Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) captain Mohammed Muzahir Raza slammed second successive century for his team as thrashed MCCC U-16 B by a massive 328 runs in an Al Turki Enterprises-sponsored Under-16 Junior League match at Muscat Municipality Ground I.
Batting first, PSM amassed a record 408 runs for four in 29 overs. Mazahir led the way with a remarkable 177 off only 79 balls, hitting a whopping 30 boundaries in his knock. Syed Waleed Bukhari (91 off 49) and B Asim (54 off 23) were the other leading scorers.
MCCC side wilted under the weight of a colossal target, folding up for a meagre 80 in the 21st over. Sourav Bangera scored 18 off 35 balls. Muzahir was brilliant with the ball too, taking three wickets for 14 runs while Sozhab Sohail bagged two.
Muzahir had scored a century in the previous game too and then bowled brilliantly to take three wickets in the same match against MCCC U-16 A side on December 2, 2017.
