All set for Republic Day of India Hockey Festival

Muscat: It is that time of the year when the Sultanate’s hockey fraternity gathers together to celebrate the Republic Day of India with the annual Hockey Festival.
As in the past 12 years, Team Coorg Muscat and Friends of Naqvi Group are all set to host the Republic Day of India Hockey Festival. The popular event, to be organised under the patronage of Embassy of India, is scheduled to take place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on January 12 from 3.00 to 7.00 p.m.
According to the organisers, Indian Ambassador Indramani Pandey will preside over the Festival as the chief guest.

Talib Khamis Al Wahaibi, Chairman of Oman Hockey Association, Sheikh Saud Al Rawahi, former vice-chairman of Oman Olympic Committee, and Sayed Anwar Ahsan, General Manager of Raha Poly Products LLC, will be the guests of honor. Sushma Pandey, the wife Indian Ambassador Indramani Pandey, has been invited as the special guest.
The Festival, which has received the appreciation of FIH. and AHF, will comprise three competitions - Republic Day of India Trophy, Ambassador’s Cup for men and Ambassador’s Cup for women.
Team Coorg Muscat, the UTSC and Oman Veterans XI will compete for the Republic Day of India Trophy.
The Ambassador’s Cup for men will see the Ambassador’s XI, Indian School Al Seeb and Indian School Al Mabela vie for the top honours.
The Ambassador’s Cup for women will be contested by Indian School Al Seeb and Indian School Al Mabela.
The Festival is mainly sponsored by Future Group of Companies and supported by Bank Muscat, Khimji Ramdas, ROCA (Khimji), Raha Poly Products LLC, Future Plastics LLC, Muscat Services & Trading Co. LLC, FEMCO, Oasis Water, Pocari Sweet (Muscat Pharmacy), Al Ansari Group of Companies, Mohammed Rafiq & Partner LLC, Team Coorg Muscat, UTSC Muscat, Oman United Insurance, Monalisa Grand Mall and Al Omaniya Financial Services.
As in the past, the organisers will honour the distinguished personalities from the Indian community for their services in different fields and they include Dr. Satish Nambiar, Chairman of Indian Social Club, for social service, and Dr. Benny Pannakkal, Chief Cardiologist and Medical Director of Badr Al Samaa for humanitarian service, as well as talented young musician Santhruph G.V. Vedanthi of Indian School Muscat.
