Oman shares end lower in subdued trading

Muscat: Trading activity remained subdued with the benchmark MSM30 Index ending the session at 5,107.97 points, down 0.22 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.38 per cent to close at 718.34 points. Al Anwar Ceramics was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. National Gas, up 2.07 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Madina Investment, down 3.33 per cent was the top loser.
A total number of 586 trades were executed on Monday, generating a turnover of OMR714,000 with 4.74 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded securities, 5 advanced, 16 declined, and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign Investors were net buyers for OMR48,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR45,000 while Omani Investors were net sellers for OMR93,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index ended at 7,585.77 points, down 0.33 per cent. Taageer Finance and United Finance increased 0.80 per cent and 0.74 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investments, Vision Insurance, Al Izz Bank, Al Anwar Holding and Al Madina Takaful declined 3.33 per cent, 2.01 per cent, 1.47 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index retreated 0.59 per cent to close at 6,839.94 points. Al Anwar Ceramics, Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Fisheries, Galfar Engineering and Voltamp Energy lost 2.36 per cent, 1.99 per cent, 1.3 per cent, 1.3 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively.
Services Index gained 0.16 per cent to close at 2,645.79 points. National Gas, Al Suwadi Power and Renaissance Services increased 2.07 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 1.29 per cent respectively. OIFC, Ooredoo, Al Jazeera Services and MCDC declined 1.40 per cent, 0.76 per cent, 0.65 per cent and 0.62 per cent respectively.
