Cricket: Oman U-16 team rout Maldives in Sharjah

Muscat: Leading from the front, captain Mohammed Sameer guided Oman to an easy 10-wicket victory against Maldives in their opening match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-16 Western Region Tournament in Sharjah on Sunday.
Chasing a meagre total of 105 to win, Oman raced to the target in just 14 overs thanks to a superb unbroken opening partnership of 106 between Sameer (61 off 51) and Rushil Dadwal (34 off 33).
Sameer had earlier bowled brilliantly, taking four wickets for just 11 runs while Adeel Abbas bagged two for 20 as Oman restricted Maldives to 104 for eight in 35 overs.
Brief scores: Maldives U-16 104 for 8 in 35 overs (Mohammed Ahusan 17; Mohammed Sameer 4/11, Adeel Abbas 2/20, Prathamesh Santhosh 1/8) lost to Oman U-16 106 for no loss in 14 overs (Mohammed Sameer 61, Rushil Dadwal 34).
