Did you delete your ID card copy after downloading it?

Muscat: Indian citizens who downloaded a soft copy of their identity card Aadhar have been asked to ensure it has been deleted.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said that it if the local copy was downloaded in a cyber café and was not wiped, it could lead to identity theft.
“Please ensure that you delete the local copy of Aadhar downloaded in any cyber café or on any other public machine as it may lead to misuse. #AadharEssentials ,” the official UIDAI handle tweeted.
Users were apprehensive of the announcement because millions of people are India are not digitally literate and often take the help of people who run internet cafes to download soft copies of their Aadhar cards.
This is one of many instances where people have expressed doubts about UIDAI’s ability to protect people’s private data which they submitted to get their Aadhar cards made.
This announcement comes in the wake of a newspaper report that details of millions of Aadhar users were being sold on WhatsApp for a mere Rs500 or nearly $8.
