Salalah Youth Cricket Academy U-16 team win in Muscat

Muscat: In what can be described as a first ever visit by a junior cricket team from Dhofar region, the under-16 side of Salalah Youth Cricket Academy (SYCA) recently were in Muscat to play a match and returned home after tasting success in the capital city.
During their trip, the SYCA under-16 team took on their counterparts from Al Hail School of Cricket (AHSC) in a Twent20 tie and after a keen competition won the match by 25 runs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, SYCA put up 131 for five in 20 overs with Sanatan Ganesh Shenoy top-scoring with 30 runs. Captain Bhaskar Yeshwant Bitra and Joseph Vivek Basil, who also plays in Salalah Cricket League, contributed 29 and 20 respectively.
Dadh Al Balushi, Mohammed Al Balushi and Wasim Al Balushi took one wicket each for Al Hail School of Cricket (AHSC).

In reply, AHSC were restricted to 108 for five in 20 overs. Mohammed Al Balushi was the top-scorer with 28 runs while Ahmed Al Balushi made 17 runs.
For the visitors, Sarthak Ganesh Shenoy claimed two wickets while Bhaskar Yeshwant Bitra, Sanatan Ganesh Shenoy and Parth Vivek Khanjari took one each. Sanatan Ganesh Shenoy was declared the player of the match.
While the AHSC team were coached by Abdul Ghani Rahim Al Balushi, the SYCA squad were accompanied by coaches Pristine Baby and Ramakrishna Sheshadri.
