Muscat: As part of its unrelenting corporate social responsibility efforts, Oman LNG celebrated the graduation of 35 Omanis who participated in its ‘Training for Employment’ programmes to support the government’s efforts in Omanisation and provide meaningful employment to the Omani youth.

Funded by Oman LNG and facilitated by the Oman Society for Petroleum Services (Opal), the training programmes were designed to equip 20 candidates with the essential skills of the marketing discipline and nurturing additional 15 graduates’ capacities to work in metal painting. The training spanned for a duration of seven and six months respectively for the two professions.

Supervised and arranged by local training institutes, the training took place in a conducive learning environment. In addition, the successful completion of the training programmes was linked to secured employment opportunities in a number of companies in the private sector, thereby boosting the Omanisation rate in this vibrant sector, an essential contributor to Oman’s economy and a potential employer for much more Omani youth.

“The graduation ceremony reflects Oman LNG’s bold commitment towards developing and training young Omani nationals. The training programmes develop a number of Omani youths to work in the private sector and boost Omanisation efforts,” said Sheikh Khalid Al Massan, CEO of Oman LNG Development Foundation.

The training programmes fall under Oman LNG’s Human Resource Development (HRD), a fund that targets nurturing job-skills that are attractive to the labour market. Through this fund, Oman LNG, since its inception, has been able to enhance local capabilities resulting in the employment by self-employment and job secured employment of more than 3,500 Omanis.

In addition to the HRD fund, the Oman LNG Development Foundation comprises a Community Fund targeting initiatives related to the Sur Community where its world-class, three-train liquefaction plant is located, a National Fund that covers a large swath of the company’s social development programmes across the nation; a Reserve Fund to address the sustainability and continuity of the company’s CSR programmes and a Centre of Excellence to develop lasting CSR initiatives through partnering, knowledge sharing, funding and investments.

With its involvement in the nation’s social development in many spheres of life within the country, Oman LNG has successfully created a thriving template for modelling public-private sector partnerships that deliver many gains for the Sultanate and people of Oman.

Oman LNG has an ambitious vision and dedication towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as indicated by the launch of Oman LNG Development Foundation.
