Oman educator wins international award

Muscat: A leading educator and healthcare expert in Oman has received a prestigious award in recognition of her contribution to research excellence and her accomplishments in the field of maternal health nursing.

Dr. Vidya Seshan, Assistant Professor and Head of Maternal and Child Health Department of the College of Nursing at Sultan Qaboos University, was conferred “Distinguished Scientist Award in Maternal Health Nursing” by the Venus International Foundation (VIF) based in Chennai, India. She received her award at the third Annual Research meet of the VIF held in India recently.

Dr. Vidya Seshan previously held the position of Assistant Dean for Clinical Training and Community Services in the College of Nursing, SQU during 2014 and 2015. Dr. Seshan had received the Best Researcher award from Sultan Qaboos University in 2015. In 2017 she was one among the 500 faculty members in SQU to be selected as SQU’s best researchers (top researchers in SciVal) “SQU Pure Expert” portal, 2017.

She was also a co-investigator for a project “Breast Cancer Awareness among Omani Women” which received His Majesty's Strategic Grant.
