More than 131,000 Omanis register for fuel subsidy

Muscat: The number of those who have registered under the national fuel subsidy system witnessed a remarkable increase with the nearing of actual implementation of the system and increase the limit of M-91 fuel with effect from January 2018.
According to the national subsidy data, 131,363 including 1,019 fishermen have already registered as of Wednesday.
The system allows the beneficiaries to select their preferred petrol stations.
Based on the available data 51 per cent of those registered selected Oman Oil, 32 per cent selected Shell Oman Marketing and 17 per cent selected Al Maha Marketing. The system subsidises all vehicles using 91 petrol, about 80 per cent of the vehicles registered in the Sultanate.
