Omani Development Bank seminar focuses on SMEs sector

Muscat: The Omani Development Bank (ODB) organised yesterday a seminar entitled “Reviewing the Malaysian Experience in Small and Medium Enterprise Development”.
It discussed the means of developing small and medium enterprises and how to overcome the most important challenges.
Dr. Hafsa Hashim, CEO of the SMEs Corp. Malaysia, made a presentation on the history of the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and their role in Malaysia’s economic growth, stressing that there is a wide scope for cooperation and exchange of experiences between small and medium enterprises in the Sultanate and Malaysia.
Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed Al Hinaie, CEO of Oman Development Bank, said that the bank seeks to identify successful experiences in other countries.
Al Hinaie pointed out that the bank, through its new strategy for the period 2018 to 2022, launched on Tuesday, will focus its attention on the SMEs sector and enable young Omanis to find jobs whether they are self-employed or work in one of the sector’s institutions.
The seminar was attended by a number of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and a number of government and private officials.
