Sayyid Fahd meets Japanese foreign minister

Muscat:Muscat: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received yesterday Taro Kono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and his accompanying delegation.
The minister conveyed greetings of the leadership in Japan and their good wishes to His Majesty the Sultan, the government and the people of Oman with more growth and progress.
Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said reviewed the growing relations between the two countries and the joint efforts to enhance cooperation in many fields that serve the interests of the people of two countries.
The conversation dealt with a number of issues being witnessed in the regional and international arenas.
Taro Kono pointed out Japan’s keenness to give bilateral relations a new boost to the economic and investment aspects between the two countries, praising the wise policy adopted by the Sultanate at the regional and international levels, stressing the importance of talks with officials in the Sultanate and their positive effects.
The meeting was attended by Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs. It was also attended by Japan’s Ambassador to the Sultanate, Mitsugo Saito.
Earlier, Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah received Japan foreign minister in his office yesterday.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and existing cooperation between the two countries in diplomatic, economic, investment, commercial and cultural fields, and means of enhancing them.
The two sides also exchanged viewpoints on a number of regional and international issues of common concern, and supporting and enhancing pillars of regional and international security and stability. They discussed supporting efforts to achieve sustainable economic development for all.
The meeting was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry, a number of officials in the Foreign Ministry, the delegation accompanying the Japanese guest and Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate.
