Aquafina named official partner of Almouj Muscat Marathon

Muscat: International bottled water brand Aquafina has stepped into the Almouj Muscat Marathon as Official Hydration Partner at the festival of running.
One of the world’s best known purified water products, Aquafina will be the sole beverage supplier around the two-day event, providing bottled water and Top Fruit juice boxes to competitors and members of the public. There will also be a Nestle Ice Cream promotional stall at the race village for the duration of the event.
With more than 6,000 runners now signed-up, the seventh edition of the Almouj Muscat Marathon will again be supported by the grassroots Muscat Road Runners organisation in conjunction with the event management expertise of Oman Sail and the support of title sponsor Almouj Muscat, the renowned waterfront destination.
Aquafina is produced locally by the Oman Refreshment Company (ORC) under a franchise agreement with PepsiCo. It is bottled at the ORC plant in Al Ghubra, along with the ORC’s own Top Fruit juice brand.
“We are delighted to be involved in such an inspiring event as the Almouj Muscat Marathon where we will do all we can to keep the runners hydrated and in great shape,” said Youssef Ezzikhe CEO of ORC.
“As a company we have always sought to be responsible corporate citizens and contribute to Omani society, so supporting the Almouj Muscat Marathon is a good fit for us and will also bring obvious benefits to all those taking part.”
Aquafina’s support was warmly welcomed by the organisers of the marathon. “We are delighted to be welcoming Aquafina as the official Hydration Partner of Almouj Muscat Marathon,” Salma Al Hashmi, Oman Sail CMO said.
“Thanks to Aquafina, runners will have many opportunities to rehydrate across all our event categories, and enjoy the local fruit juice product from Oman Refreshment Company.”
Now a two-day festival of running held on January 18 and 19, 2018, Almouj Muscat Marathon will feature three new additional running categories. The first – a Kids Run– is on the opening day and will feature three courses: 1km for children aged 7 and 8; 2.5km for 9 and 10 year-olds; and a 4km course for youngsters aged 11 and 12.
The following day will see the running of the established full Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km races, as well as two new categories, the Marathon Relay open to teams of four to six runners who will each run part of the full 42km course and the 5km Charity Fun Run in support of the Oman Diabetes Association (ODA).
