Los Angeles: Los Angeles' bomb squad was called to investigate a suspicious package addressed to U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

A Los Angeles police bomb squad responded to a suspicious package addressed to U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. NBC News reported investigators quickly determined the large, gift-wrapped box contained a significant quantity of horse manure. The package was delivered to the wealthy Bel-Air neighbourhood and discovered by a neighbour on Saturday.

It's not the first time Mnuchin has attracted negative attention. The former Goldman Sachs executive and his wife, actress Louis Linton, came under criticism after posting a photo of themselves holding reams of newly minted dollar bills. The photo was taken on a trip to the bureau of engraving and printing.

The Treasury Department's own inspector general is investigating allegations Mnuchin concealed or misled the public about a U.S. Treasury study of the recent tax overhaul. NBC News reported the packaged addressed to Mnuchin included a Christmas card referencing the tax bill. ABC 7 reported the package was labelled as a gift, quote, "from the American people."
