Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the State Council, will host the ‘Regional Forum of Parliamentarians in Science and Diplomacy’ organised by the Islamic Educational, Scientific Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) from December 25 to 27 at the Council’s headquarters in Al Bustan.
The conference will be attended by parliamentarians, experts and thinkers from a number of Arab countries.
The conference is aimed at enhancing the role of the parliamentarians in developing legislation and policies that support science and technology; building bridges of cooperation among member states through science diplomacy; engaging the society in science, technology and innovation issues; and deepening cooperation between scientific institutions and bodies of member states, as well as highlighting the role of scientific associations and entities in coordinating with member states to support decision-making on science and innovation.
Five working sessions will be held within the framework of the forum to discuss a number of papers related to the subject.
The forum will also issue recommendations to strengthen the role of Arab parliaments in science and diplomacy.
