His Majesty gifts SQU students 10 Arabian purebred horses

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said offered students at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) a number of Arabian purebred horses.
“The horses will contribute to developing Sultan Qaboos University’s cavalry skills by providing a good number of horses to be trained daily,” said Ahmed Al-Harasi, coach of the SQU Cavalry.
“The gift of 10 horses will help generate interest among students to develop and generate breeds and riding horses for racing sports. The university team has already participated in racehorse, polo and jump barriers competitions,” remarked Al Harasi.
“The news of the team’s achievements reached His Majesty the Sultan, and the enthusiasm of the youth and their knowledge in the field of Arabian horse beauty shows drew his attention, so His Majesty decided to support the youth and the university, and ordered to give them 10 horses,” explained Ahmed.
SQU Cavalry Group was established three years ago. It is a student’s group under the umbrella of Agricultural and Marine Sciences College.
The group is interested in Arabian purebred horses and has participated in a number of local and foreign horse beauty championships. The horses will be sent to the agriculture experiment center, which will contribute to research and scientific projects.
