Task force created to ensure jobs for Omanis

Muscat: Government agencies are reviewing the termination of Omani employees who were working in the airport project and are looking to accommodate them in other places.
The Ministry of Manpower replied to the Shura Council query on the termination of a number of Omani employees from the companies that were operating during the construction of the new Muscat international Airport.
In a reply to the Shura Council, Minister of Manpower Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, said: “For this purpose, a team of representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Manpower, Oman Airport Management Company and Oman Air has been formed to study the appropriate way to employ them in the new companies that are operating at the airport or to look for jobs for them in other sectors, if they accept the offered opportunities.”
Meanwhile, more than 3,000 job opportunities have been provided to nationals, in line with the government’s vision to provide 25,000 jobs by 2018.
Some 3,836 job opportunities have been made available through ‘Target and Majid’ since the start of the programme to provide 25,000 jobs. Target programme is aimed at graduates, while Majid programme is reserved for diploma holders. “To date, 3,836 job opportunities have been made available through Target and Majid since the start of the programme on December 6.
“Our goal is to provide more than 4,000 jobs per month for six consecutive months to reach 25,000 job-seekers,” Maan Namal, the official account of the programme, announced online.
“If a job-seeker was not active in September but was previously active, his case is transferred to the technical team which will study his category. In case of confirmation, such names will be transferred to the list of recruitment companies according to their qualification within one week,” Maan Namal said in a statement.
Previously, these committees started by providing data about the available job opportunities to active job-seekers on October 3, 2017.
This would mean that job-seekers who have been active before September would be included in this application even if they had not activated their status in September.
