Omani civil defence personnel rescue rain-hit

Muscat: A responsible source at Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that the civil defence personnel in cooperation with the citizens carried out a number of rescue operations for those trapped in wadis in different wilayat.

In Shinas, assistance was provided to a family of nine persons who were trapped inside their house in South Al Hilla area due to rise in the level of water.
Another family of eight persons was also rescued after being trapped in their vehicle in the area between Wadi Al Naama and Wadi Sur Al Balush.
A vehicle carrying two persons were also rescued in Humaira Area. Three drivers whose vehicles drifted in the Wadi were also rescued.
A fire at an electrical box at one of the houses in Al Balida area in the Wilayat of Shins was controlled together with another fire at a lighting post in Al Suwaihra in the Wilayat of Sohar.
In the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah, assistance was provided to three persons whose vehicles were trapped in Wadi Al Ouq in the Wilayat of Sumail. Assistance was also provided to owners of 12 vehicles that were drifted by water in wadi Shabak in the Wilayat of Izki.
A trailer driver who was trapped in Wadi Halfain in Sumail was also rescued.
Three persons whose vehicles were trapped in Wadi Al Maeedin in the Niyabat of Birkat Al Mouz in the Wilayat of Buhla were also rescued in addition to family of six persosn whose vehicle was trapped in Wadi Al Ma’amoura. The team also carried two rescue operations for a family of three persosn and a driver whose vehicles were trapped in Wadi Bilad Seet.
A citizen whose vehicle was trapped in Wadi Al Kharma in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi in North A’Sharqiyah was also rescued.
ROP urges everyone to remain highly cautious and not to cross Wadis and low areas unless the water level and flow is safe. It also urges everyone to remain away from the sloping areas that may be at the Wadi pathway.
