OmanPride: Fund-raising campaign for disabled

Grant Thornton Oman organised a fund-raising campaign for the Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities at Dar Al Aman charity organisation in Al Khoudh.
The event, which is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to promote environmental and social change, while shedding light on the challenges faced by the disabled children in their daily life.

“It is an opportunity for us to join together as members of the community for this noble cause and give back to society,” said Abdulla Al Asfur, one of the organising members. “It is important to spend time with those children for a chance to learn more about their way of life, acquainting ourselves with the hardships they go through every day.”
The campaign was held as a community carnival for children and their families, and included a variety of activities and games such as Disco Toss and Spin-the-Wheel, to name a few. Face-painting, henna painting, zumba sessions, magic show, horseback riding, and sales of food and beverages were also part of the carnival.
Her Highness Sayyida Mona bint Fahad Al Said was one of the attendees of the event, alongside Grant Thornton representatives who delivered a speech on community welfare. All the funds collected from donations and sponsorships will go directly to Dar Al Aman Centre.

The intervention centre is known for looking after children and people in the community who cannot lead a normal life due to their physical and mental disabilities.
“Nobody is perfect. We all have our unique differences, which is why we should accept ourselves for who we are and focus on the changes that can impact the future,” noted Abdulla.
