Cricket: Khawar, Butt power Enhance to victory

Muscat: Khawar Ali and Ahmed Fayyaz Butt continue to win games for Enhance, putting it beyond Al Turki NMC this time and securing an exciting four-wicket victory for their team in a Muscat Pharmacy-sponsored Premier Division match at Ministry of Sports Affairs Ground I in Al Amerat on Saturday.
Asked to bat first, Al Turki found themselves reeling at 69 for five in the 19th over with Butt, Sufyan Mahmood and Mehran Khan doing all the damage with the new ball. However, Al Turki’s star all-rounder Ajay Lalcheta led the fightback with a brilliant unbeaten 75 off 84 balls, leading his side to 183 before he ran out of partners in the 47th over. Butt was once again the main wicket-taker with three scalps while Sufyan bagged two.
Opener Khawar struck a fluent 85 off 72 to help his team on their way to another impressive win.
Mehran Khan played a little cameo, scoring 33 off 17 balls as Enhance surpassed the total in the 31st over. Jay Odedara bowled beautifully to claim four wickets while Rohit Malik bagged two.

Qurum Business Grup (QBG) rode on magnificent all-round show by Prem Kumar to thrash OCT Al Hail by 44 runs in a Raha Poly Products-sponsored C Division clash at Muscat Municipality Ground I on Friday.
QBG posted 178 for seven in 20 overs thanks to a 41-ball 55 by Prem Kumar. Sarath Muraleedharan batted well too, scoring 37 off 26 balls. Muhamed Al Zadjali and Suhaib Al Balushi took three and two wickets respectively.
OCT Al Hail struggled for runs, scoring only 134 for nine in 20 overs despite a brilliant 51 off 37 by Suhaib Al Balushi. Prem Kumar led the bowling honours too, taking three wickets while Shine N.V bagged two.

In another C Division match, Attic Outdoors eased to a 25-run win over New Prism International at Muscat Municipality Ground III.
Batting first, Attic Outdoors compiled 153 for four in 20 overs thanks to 37-ball 45 by Mohsin Raza and 38 off 36 by Madhur Bhatnagar. Imran Sardar bagged two wickets.
New Prism found the going tough and could manage only 128 for seven in their quota of 20 overs. Vikas Sharma took three wickets while Rooswin Anto bagged two.

Trust Oilfield Services were too good for Rukun Al Yaqeen (RAY), securing a 73-run victory in a D Division match at Muscat Municipality Ground II.
Invited to bat first, Trust Oilfield piled up 206 for six in 20 overs. Opener Akram Wajid led the way with a 34-ball 62, followed by a strokeful 36 off 20 by Shahid Mehmood. Anandha Ramakrishnan and Krishnaraja took two wickets each.
Facing a big total to chase, RAY fell way short, scoring only 133 for seven in 20 overs, Mohsin Javed top-scored with 34 off 26 while Raja Gunasekar contributed an unbeaten 27 off 21. Mohamed Shafeeq and Qamar Nazir bagged two wickets each.
