Muscat: Final match of the Indian School Wadi Karbir International (ISWKi) cricket Premiere League, Season 1 was organised on December 12, 2017 on ISWKi grounds between host school team and ‘Falcons’ (parents team).
It was the first time in the history of Indian schools in Muscat that an event involving parents was organised.
The event was the brainchild of ISWKi Vice Principal Nazim Quareshi.
The idea behind such an event was to build a strong relationship between the parents, teachers and the school which would help the school to bring out the best out of the learners.
Team Falcons came up as the best team of dads, namey: Daddy Daredevils, Team Lions, Super Daddy and Falcons. The teams fought their way up in the league matches being played since past three months.
Chief Guest for the event was Rajendra Varma, Head of Global Standards, HSBC bank and Guest of Honour was Mayur Chandan, retail manager of Supa Sports.
Other dignitaries were Harshendu Shah, president of the school managing committee ISWKi.
A large number of people, including their families, enjoyed the match between team Falcons and ISWKi.
Team Falcon won the toss and captain Siddique decided to bat first. G. Pillai slammed the ball over the field. It was due to his hard hits that Falcons achieved a good start. He completed his half-century by playing keen and beautiful shots.
Pillai was adjudged the as ‘Man of the Series’ and was awarded with Anjana N. award in felicitation for her jaw dropping performance in cricket.
Team Falcon received a setback when they lost their firsy wicket early in the match but did not surrender and continued to play well. They set a target of 110 runs in 15 overs.
Team in white, ISWKi staff, made a poor start as their first wicket fell at the score of 10 runs. Although ISWKi tried to chase the score but were the wickets kept falling one after the other and the team was back to the pavilion with just 48 runs in 11 overs.
All the teams were felicitated for participating in the tournament.
Saumaya award was given for the ‘Man of the Match’ to Gaurav Yadav , from the ISWKi team. Praveen Uniyal from team ISWKi was declared ‘best wicket keeper’ and was given Master Aryan Joshi award. Manoj Mugale from team Super Daddy was given Master Aniruddh Nair award for the ‘best batsman of the season’. Fakhri Dudhiawalla of Daddy Daredevils, was given ‘best batsman of the season’. Hamna V. award went to Praveen Sharma of Lion Team for best bowler of ISWKi PL season 1.
A short video presentation was prepared by parents as a tribute to efforts made by all the teams and the organisers.
Refreshments were supplied by our in-house caterers ‘Just Grill’.
The chairman of the management committee, Harshendu Shah, Principal D N Rao, Vice Principal Nazim Qureshi congratulated the winning team and appreciated the efforts put up by all the teams and also parents who were involved in any capacity in the event.
