Cricket: Asfandyar XI, Strikers win at FRiENDi Mobile Winter Cup

Muscat: Asfandyar XI and Strikers emerged the men’s and women’s champions respectively at the FRiENDi Mobile Winter Cup cricket tournament organised by the Jazz Boys Cricket Club at Al Ghubra Power Plant Ground.
In the men’s final, Asfandyar XI defeated Strikers Oman by 10 wickets to take the top honours.
Batting first, Strikers Oman scored 47 for four in six overs. Asfandyar XI chased the target without losing any wicket thanks to an unbeaten 23 by Nadeem Jayasurya.
In the women’s title clash, Strikers defeated UMF by 15 runs to lift the crown.

During an impressive prize-giving ceremony, guests of honour Joseph Rajan, Brand Manager of FRiENDi Mobile, Vaishali Jesrani, women’s cricket coordinatior at Oman Cricket, and Gayatri Suri of JBC handed over the prizes.
The tournament was mainly sponsored by FRiENDi Mobile, Danube and National Metal Cans and co-sponsored by Al Hajiry Group, Cluttons and The Body Shop.
Vinu Mathew of Jazz Boys Cricket Club congratulated the winners and thanked all the sponsors for their continued support.
