Oman marks World Human Rights Day

Muscat: The Sultanate represented by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) marked the World Human Rights Day which falls on December 10 each year.
The ceremony was held at the premises of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation under the auspices of Sheikh Mohammed bin Suayed Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development in the presence of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Chairman of the State Council, Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of civil Services and Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis A’Shura.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Shuwain Al Hosani, Chairman of NHRC delivered a speech where he said that NHRC was established to assist the government and society in integrating human rights principles and raise public awareness of them in line with human rights international conventions, charts and laws.
The event included a presentation on NHRC’s functions and missions.
It also included a presentation of four case studies on man and humanity in the Omani society, as well as the safety and security enjoyed in the different parts of the Sultanate.
The event also saw the launching of a book titled ‘Expatriates Rights and Obligations Manual’ as well as the e-card for receiving notifications.
At the end of the event, the chief guest honoured the heroes of the stories on man and humanity in the Omani society.
