Arabs have right to defend issue of Palestinians: Alawi

Cairo: “While Arabs have the right to defend the Palestinian issue and the occupied Al Quds City (Jerusalem) because their right is evident for all young and adult, still they need to reconcile with themselves,” said Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs.
Alawi is leading the Sultanate’s delegation at the extraordinary meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers to consider the issues resulting from U.S President Donald Trump declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
He added that the embassies of the countries accredited to the Palestinian State should be located in Eastern Jerusalem, as proposed in the meeting.
He pointed out that while he appreciates all inputs, positive plans and enthusiastic speeches at the meeting, which boost morale and foster our vision to future, still they are below the expectations from the strong Arab League, which is a political entity.
“It is not good to express our feeling, denounce other’s acts and still do nothing. If we want to be obeyed, we should reconcile with the world,” he furthered.
He pointed out that the ad hoc committee held a three-hour meeting but came out with nothing as it does not have a clear vision for work. He noted that such issues may not be handled with ado but rather by groping our way in this turbulent world.
He also pointed out that the U.S Vice-President will visit the region soon and that Arabs and Palestinians have the tools that may turn this situation into gains; if we want really to help our Palestinian brothers.
“There are some proposals which may be positive including to develop, agree on and implement a road map for our work in the coming year,” he added.
