Three arrested for illegal hunting in Oman

Muscat: Three people were arrested for violating wildlife laws in Ibri, and had their firearms and tools for hunting confiscated by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA).
Police and officers from the Ministry made the arrests after the three individuals — who were of 'Gulf nationality' according to MECA — were found with a variety of weapons used for hunting: fourteen traps, two pigeons, a freshly caught Houbara bustard, a number of nets, falconry tools and frozen poultry meat, as well as bird sound simulators and three four-wheel drive vehicles for hunting.

The authorities were acting on a report they had received about people hunting using firearms and hawks in the province.
"The team tracked down a group of people who came to the Sultanate with five falcons and went to Tannam village in Ibri. After locating the group, the team coordinated with the authorities and raided the site with the support of the Royal Oman Police," MECA added.
"After the defendants were confronted with the evidence they confessed to the crimes, and were referred with all the evidence to the judicial authorities to complete the investigation on charges of violating the Nature Reserves and Wildlife Conservation Law issued by Royal Decree No. 6/2003, the Telecommunications Law and the Weapons and Ammunition Law."
