Royal Cavalry of Oman honoured at HWPA Awards

Muscat: The Royal Cavalry of Oman was honoured during the 51st annual Horserace Writers & Photographers Association (HWPA) Derby Awards Lunch held in London recently.
The annual awards ceremony, supported by the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club, took place at Lancaster London with the participation of over 560 including well-known horse breeders, trainers, jockeys and judges.
During the ceremony, the Royal Cavalry of Oman was presented with the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Arabian Award.
According to information received here, the Royal Cavalry of Oman was presented with the award for their achievements during the season.
“Royal Cavalry of Oman horses won many races in 2017. ‘Nafees’, for example, won the British Debry Cup on Doncaster racecourse, ‘Riyam’ came first in Newbury racecourse, and ‘Sylvine Al Murry’ also won a first place. While ‘Al Karamah’ came second in International Dubai Raceday. These top results were achieved under the supervision of Omani trainers including Said bin Bati Al Badi who won best trainer award in UK Arabian Horse Racing for 2017,” a statement from Royal Cavalry of Oman said.
Brigadier General Abdulrazak Abdulkader Al Shahwarzi, Commander of the Royal Cavalry, said: “The HWPA award is a fruitful result of Royal Cavalry’s achievements in various international competitions.”
