Rain in Muscat this weekend as tropical storm intensifies

Muscat: Oman's capital Muscat, South Batinah and Musandam provinces may experience moderate to heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday, according to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).
This will bring down the temperatures considerably, PACA said, as it also warned of a tropical storm that was intensifying in the Arabian Sea.
In its 24 hour outlook, PACA said: "Clear to partly cloudy skies over Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coastal areas and parts of al Hajar Mountains with chance of isolated rain. Mainly clear skies over the rest of the Sultanate with chance of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog patches over parts Al Buraimi, Al Dahirah, South al Sharqiya, Al Wusta and northern part of Dhofar governorates."
Tropical storm to intensify
A tropical storm is likely to intensify and move towards the centre of Arabian Sea, PACA added.
Latest satellite imagery and weather chart analysis show existence of scattered convective clouds associated with the tropical storm (OCKHI) south east of Arabian Sea lay centered around on latitude 6.7N and longitude 78.3E, the agency reported.
"According to numerical weather predictions charts the storm is likely to intensify and move towards the centre of Arabian Sea within the next 24 hours. The forecast indicates that the movement of tropical system will move towards Indian sub continent during the next few days without any effect over the Sultanate," PACA said.
