Sayyid Fahd presides over Royal horse races

Sohar: Upon the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers presided on Tuesday over the annual horse race of the Royal Cavalry (RC) which was held in the Wilayat of Sohar.
Sayyid Fahd said that the Omani Royal Cavalry has demonstrated its superiority in this field at the local and international levels, and that every Omani is proud of this aspect, congratulating the Royal Cavalry for this important achievement.
In the first race, named Saih Al Taybat for pure Arabian horses (for lady riders) for 1,200 metres, the horse Djent of the RC won the first place.
The second place was won by the horse Idrak of the RC. The horse Muzdanah of the RC won the third place, the horse Faeqah of the RC won the forth place and the horse The Sohar of the RC won the fifth place.
In the second race, Saih Al Rahmat, dedicated to the Arabian horses for 1,200 metres, the first place won by Rawdah of the RC. The second place went to the horse Siya of the RC, the third place was won by the horse Bariq, the forth was won by the horse Riyam of the RC and the fifth place went to the horse Rehab of the RC which is participating in the race for the first time.
In the third race, Saih Al Mahasin, for the Arabian horses for a distance of 1,600 metres, the horse Laheeb of the RC won the first place. The horse Asif came second. The third place went to the horse Lamah of the RC. The horse Djaikiri Safinat of the RC won the fourth place and the fifth place went to the horse Bariz of the RC.
The horse Bakir de Flauzins, owned by HH Sayyid Tariq bin Mohammed Al Said won the first place in the fourth race named “Saih Al Nafahat” for the purebred Arabian horses, ranked highest in the racing season of 2017/2018, for 1,600 metres.
The second place went to the horse Omaier, owned by Sayyid Munthir bin Saif Al Busaidi. The third place was won by the horse Raddad, owned by Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Marzooqi and the fourth place went to the horse Zaqur, owned by Faisal bin Ali Al Fanna and the fifth place was won by the horse RB Madjyk Man, owned by Ahmed bin Hamoud Al Nahdi.
The horse Maisoor of the RC won the Cup of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for the Arabian horses for a distance of 1,600 metres.
The horse Arif of the RC won the second place. The third place was won by the horse Worood of the RC. The horse Maazouz of the Royal Oman Police won the fourth place and the fifth place went to the horse Katonahotinroof of the RC.
The race also witnessed traditional musical performances, mounted music performance, Royal Household Troops Band display (Lanzeh art), children fun race, and quadruple raked Al Ardah.
Brigadier. Abdul Razak bin Abdul Qadir Al Shahrouszi, Commander of the Royal Cavalry, confirmed the strength of competition in the race because there are the best horses rated high in horse racing in Oman and abroad.
He added “The race has gone according to what was planned and all the horses that participated in the race were characterized by their strong presence.”
He also pointed out the importance of Maisoor return to competition and winning first place of His Majesty the Sultan Cup title in the fifth race of the annual horse race.
He added that the horse Maisoor will participate in the next stage of the Cup of the President of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi, where it has already participated in these races and looked forward to win again the title.
He said: The next meeting of the race will be in another governorate that will be announced later.
