OmanPride: Omani fashion designer goes to Geneva Fashion Week

Ahmed Al Balushi, Oman’s young fashion designer and founder of Kash5aful brand (pronounced Kashkhaful), achieved a new milestone with the release of his latest collection at Geneva Arab Fashion Week last week. He is known for crafting contemporary, ready-to-wear collections with the highest standards of artistry while blending fashionable pieces with modesty elements.
The young designer announced during an event that he was set to embark on a new journey to Switzerland, to be part of the fashion show, which took place at the Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva, alongside nine fashion designers from the Middle East.
Ahmed, who represented Oman at the event, showcased 12 pieces from his latest collection titled ‘exotic’ which carried dark, glamorous aesthetics in black colour with hints of gold, adding a luxe factor to the contemporary collection for those seeking individuality and fierceness. “Black represents power” said the designer, adding that “it makes you strong, powerful, and different.

Ahmed wanted to create something more than just a fashion show. His decision to debut his collection in Geneva was inspired by the collection itself, which reflects the city’s high-end lifestyle and atmosphere.
Being one of the youngest award-winning male fashion designers in town, Ahmed and his brand have been celebrated by many fashion followers in Muscat, and he has been dubbed as a fashion icon. His pieces that add hints of glamour to both men and women have become a must-have in the wardrobes of many. “I wanted modest and modern women to be able to wear the pieces and feel elegant,” said the designer.
Apart from being the first male Omani contemporary fashion designer with a local brand to kick it off in Europe, he has been constantly developing his brand and has numerous ongoing projects.
