Muscat: Here is what is happening across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Jaleb farm in South Al Batinah Governorate is a great tourist destination during winter

The "Jaleb" farm in Wadi Bani Kharus in the Wilayat of Al Awabi in the South Al Batinah Governorate is one of the farms where various winter crops abound, in addition to the cultivation of wheat, barley and various animal feeds.

Ali bin Khalfan Al-Fahdi, one of the farmers in the "Jaleb" farm, said: "With the onset of winter, we start plowing the land to plant many crops, including garlic, onions, cabbage, cauliflower, zucchini, cucumbers, potatoes, eggplant, peppers and tomatoes. There are also a number of ring crops such as wheat, barley and corn, noting that these seasonal crops are among the best types that are grown in Jaleb Farm, which is one of the old traditional farms for which the Wilayat of Al-Awabi is famous.

Al-Fahdi stressed that the people of the village are still interested in the agricultural aspect, as many adhere to agriculture and preserve it to produce quality agricultural products and have a spirit of competition as they work themselves to ensure the quality and preservation of agriculture.

It is worth noting that Jaleb Farm is located in the village of Al-Olaya, about (26) kilometres away from the centre of the Wilayat.

Industrial activity increases in Al Buraimi Governorate

Statistics issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion indicated an increase in industrial activities in Al Buraimi Governorate during the period from January to September 2022.

Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Director of the Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in Al Buraimi Governorate, said: "There is an increase in the number of industrial establishments in Al Buraimi Governorate, where the number of industrial establishments in 2021 was 582, compared to 852 from the beginning of January until end of September 2022.

Al-Saidi pointed out that the number of foreign investment companies reached 177 with a capital of OMR 8,653,000, in reference to the growth of foreign investment in the governorate due to the economic stimulus plan, in addition to the services it provides to investors.

"The Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in Al Buraimi Governorate monitors the markets and everything related to commercial activity in the governorate, such as shops, oil stations, gas companies, promotions and discounts, in accordance with the legislation governing each procedure. It also follows up on the offices that provide the service in the governorate in an effort to achieve the correct methods when using the Invest Easy system by the service provision offices (SANAD)," Al-Saidi added.

The number of commercial records in Al Buraimi Governorate from January to the end of September 2022 reached 618 distributed in various commercial activities. Where the number of records for the individual trader was 230, the street vendors was 4, the one-person company was 181, the partnership company was 25, and the non-profit organisation was 6. While the number of home businesses reached 44, the number of joint ventures reached 21 and the number of limited liability companies reached 107.

It is noteworthy that Al Buraimi Governorate is witnessing a promising commercial and industrial movement in various sectors due to the governorate’s essential elements of investment, the most important of which are its geographical location, logistics, capital and commercial markets where the Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the governorate is making continuous efforts and follow-up to facilitate the service of businessmen, investors, entrepreneurs and others.

Young Sports Leaders Programme launched in Al Buraimi Governorate

The activities of the Young Sports Leaders Programme, which is organised by the Omani School Sports Association, began in the sports hall of the Buraimi Sports Complex. It will last for five days.

The programme aims to enhance the skills of school sports teachers to enable them to train students and activate the programme in targeted schools in all governorates of the Sultanate, in addition to providing opportunities for young leaders to use the skills gained from the programme in providing successful sports events and school and community activities, and encouraging students to practice sports activities and acquire habits health to create a healthy conscious generation.

The programme also aims to cooperate with local community institutions to achieve its goals in consolidating the values and qualities of leadership among the participants, and contributes to integration with the segments of society through various training methods between the theoretical, practical, cultural and technical aspects, and encourages team and voluntary work.

On Sunday and Monday, the programme targets 35 male and female teachers in school sports, while on Tuesday and Wednesday it targets 30 male and female students from the second cycle schools, provided that the closing day of the programme will be a student festival with the participation of 100 students from the schools of the first cycle.
