Expat stole OMR25,000 from Omani after tailing him from bank

Muscat: An expat followed an Omani citizen home from the bank and stole OMR25000 he had just withdrawn, Royal Oman Police said.

The thief, whom Royal Oman Police described as an African national, was arrested on charges of theft and sabotage in Muscat.

An official source from the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said: "The suspect tracked down the citizen after he withdrew money from a bank and put it in his vehicle. When the victim reached home, the suspect sabotaged his vehicle and stole a sum of OMR25,000."

After a search and investigation, the expat was arrested and admitted the charges. He was referred to the judicial authorities to complete the legal proceedings.

ROP called on citizens and residents not to leave large amounts of money or bags that could attract attention or to leave valuables in their vehicles.
