Al Harthy crowned Pro-Am champion in France

Muscat: Oman’s leading motorsport racer Ahmed Al Harthy was crowned champion of the 2017 Blancpain Endurance Cup Pro-Am tournament on Friday, November 24, along with teammate Jonny Adam, and the rest of the Oman Racing team.
Al Harthy, who is widely recognised as one of the Sultanate’s finest motorsport champions, is currently part of Oman Racing, for which 2017 has been one of the most successful years, since its inception 10 years ago.
“What an amazing evening, an incredible awards ceremony and the absolute perfect end to Oman Racing’s best ever season,” said Al Harthy.
“I have to thank everyone who made this possible; winning the Pro-Am championship is a huge achievement for us and also for the sport in Oman as a whole.”
Al Harthy’s memorable evening also coincided with the commemoration of 10 years of Oman Racing, and 25 years of grand touring (GT) racing, and both of these milestones were celebrated at the event in France, which was hosted by French company SRO Motorsports Group. The champion racer also stopped by Oman’s embassy in Paris, where he was welcomed by Dr Moosa Jaffer Hassan, Oman’s Ambassador to France.
“I am so honoured to have been welcomed by his Dr Moosa at the embassy in Paris; such a proud moment for me and everyone associated with, and part of, Oman Racing,” he added.
Following his felicitation in Paris, Al Harthy jetted back to Oman, where he was welcomed at the Muscat International Airport by Rashad Al Hinai, Undersecretary of Oman’s Ministry of Sports Affairs, along with a host of his sponsors, which included national carrier Oman Air, the National Bank of Oman (NBO), Amouage, Barr Al Jissah and Omantel.
“It was so special to be welcomed home, when we reached Oman, by all of my incredible sponsors and, of course, Rashad Al Hinai,” exclaimed Al Harthy.
“Oman’s Ministry of Sports Affairs has been a key part of my career, and I certainly would not be celebrating the success we have had this year without its support. I am so thankful for all the incredible backing Oman Racing receives; this championship is for everyone,” he emphasised.
