Muscat bourse falls on weak sentiment

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse reacted on continued weak sentiment. MSM30 index ended on a negative note to close at 5,076.92 points, down by 0.16 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 724.78 points, down by 0.05 per cent. Ominvest was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was Oman Takaful, up by 3.13 per cent, while the top loser was Al Hassan Engineering, with a loss of 10.20 per cent.
A total number of 294 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating a turnover of OMR14.45 million with 34.46 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded securities, 3 advanced, 8 declined, and 19 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers for OMR72,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR5,000 while regional investors were net sellers for OMR77,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index was down by 0.25 per cent to close at 7,341.26 points. Oman Takaful and Gulf Investment Services increased by 3.13 per cent and 1.27 per cent, respectively. Al Madina Investment, Al Izz Islamic Bank , Al Anwar Holding and Bank Sohar declined by 1.79 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.34 per cent and 1.27 per cent, respectively.
Industry Index ended at 6,708.48 points, down by 0.28 per cent. Galfar Engineering and Oman Fisheries declined by 2.50 per cent and 2.31 per cent, respectively.
Services Index was marginally up by 0.02 per cent to close at 2,568.01 points. Renaissance Services was the only gainer and was up by 0.83 per cent to close at OMR0.242. OIFC was the only loser in the sector and was down by 0.72 per cent to close at OMR0.137. – United Securities
