Omani school children 'take over' government agencies, businesses for World Children's Day

Muscat: School children from around the Sultanate were invited by the Ministry of Education to "take over" business, government and entertainment responsibilities, as part of the ministry's World Children's Day 2017 celebrations on Monday, November 20.

The celebrations are being organised in collaboration with UNICEF and the Ministry of Social Development, who are trying to highlight the most pressing challenges faced by children.

The students will be interviewing Ministers, shadowing a number of CEOs of large companies and banks in the private sector for a day, and will also organised and lead a walkathon.

Ayoub, 13, and Loay, 11, are shadowing CEO of Oman ITA, and starting off their day with a national day celebration.

Abdullah, 16, and Fatima Al Hashmi, 10, will be interviewing Sh. Mohammed Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, and asking him what advice he would give Omani youth to develop their spirit of volunteerism to serve the community.

Yusra Al Jabri, 10 and Abdullah Al Hinai, 16, are interviewing Dr. Humood Al Harthy, Undersecretary of Education Ministry about the biggest challenges he faces.

Marwan Al Washahi, 13, is shadowing CEO of the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

Taher Al Balushi, 12, is shadowing Acting CEO of Riyada (Public Authority for SMEs Development) and will learn about SMEs and their development, while 14-year-old Aysha has taken over as 'CEO' of Omantel.

Alizz Islamic Bank hosted two students, Rayyan Al Oufu and Saif Jallad, who shadowed the CEO Salaam bin Said Al Shaksy and learned about leadership and Islamic banking.

Najat 15 and Sami 12 interviewed Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health. They asked him a number of questions regarding the professional career in general and the adopted ministry programmes for the health of children in particular.
