Muscat bourse falls on profit-booking

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse reacted on selling pressure. The MSM30 Index ended lower at 5,097.41 points, down by 0.16 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 726.32 points, down by 0.42 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Construction Materials up by 4 per cent, while the top loser was Oman Flour Mills, with a loss of 2.24 per cent.
A total number of 306 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR829,000 with 4.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded securities, 5 advanced, 4 declined, and 20 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers for OMR201,000 while regional investors were net sellers for OMR126,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR76,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index was down by 0.03 per cent to close at 7,375.81 points. Al Anwar Holding was the only gainer from the sector and closed at OMR0.151, up by 0.67 per cent. Bank Muscat lost 0.50 per cent to close at OMR0.400.
Industry Index ended at 6,734.90 points, up by 0.12 per cent. Construction Material, Galfar Engineering, and Oman Fisheries went up by 4 per cent, 2.53 per cent, and 2.36 per cent, respectively. Oman Flour Mills, the only declining stock from the sector, lost 2.24 per cent before closing at OMR0.892.
Services Index was down by 0.21 per cent to close at 2,580.77 points. Phoenix Power was up 0.75 per cent today and closed at OMR0.135. Al Maha Petroleum and Omantel went down by 1.20 per cent and 1.019 per cent, respectively.
