Oman Cricket: Shakeel Ahmed, Arun Poulose help Assarain defeat Enhance

Muscat: Left-arm spinner Shakeel Ahmad and opening batsman Arun Poulose were the stars of defending champion Assarain’s four-wicket win over Enhance in a Premier Division game at Ministry of Sports Affairs Ground I in Al Amerat on Friday.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Assarain made things difficult for Enhance from the very outset as they reduced their opponents to 26 for three and then to 98 for seven before bowling them out for 134 in the 29th over.
Sanuth Ebrahim (32), Mehran Khan (31) and Khurram Khan (28) were the notable scorers for Enhance.
Shakeel led the bowling honours with four wickets, followed by Vinukumar Gopalakrishnan’s superb three-wicket spell.
Enhance made sure Assarain’s chase would not be a cake walk. Assarain slipped to 119 for six after being comfortably placed at 106 for two. The victory was finally achieved without further damage as Assarain sailed safely home to 138 for six in the 33rd over. Arun top-scored with a gritty 50 off 74 followed by Shahan Akram’s 33 off 48. Sanuth Ebrahim claimed four wickets for Enhance.
Assarain now top the points table with 22 points from six games, followed by Muscat (18).

Saya, Akshara lift ISG
Indian School Al Ghubra (ISG) trounced Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) by 101 runs thanks to sterling performances by Saya Channa and Akshara Srinivasan in a Women’s T20 League match at the Ministry of Sports Affairs Ground II in Al Amerat.
Opting to bat first, ISG scored 139 for six in 20 overs. Shreya Sandesh Dhuri (36 off 56), Priyanka Edna (30 off 37) and Saya Channa (21 off 15, not out) were the main contributors. PSM captain Hina Javed claimed two wickets.
PSM failed to pose any challenge to ISG and folded up for a paltry 38 in just 7.2 overs. Akshara Srinivasan and Saya Channa did most of the damage, claiming four and three wickets respectively.

MCCC E rout BOC A
In a Boys’ Under-13 Junior League game, MCCC E defeated Bosher Olympic Center (BOC) A by eight wickets at Muscat Municipality Ground IV.
Batting first, BOC posted 143 for six in 20 overs with Mithran Amarnath top-scoring with an unbeaten 43 off 45 deliveries. MCCC E achieved the target in 16.4 overs thanks to superb unbeaten 42 by Rahul Mehul and 36 by Mitansh Nilesh.
