New road in Oman now open to traffic

Muscat: A new road linking Sultan Qaboos University to the Muscat Expressway is now open to traffic, according to local officials.
Al Khoud Street is 3,200m long and starts from the SQU roundabout, ending at junction 12 of the expressway, with three lanes in either direction.

A spokesman for Muscat Municipality said: "Coinciding with the Sultanate's celebrations of the 47th National Day, Muscat Municipality has finished implementing most of the basic works of Al-Khoud Street project, from Sultan Qaboos University roundabout to Muscat Highway with a total length of road 3,200m, and has opened it for traffic.

"The new street will start from Sultan Qaboos University roundabout to the intersection number 12 on Muscat Highway, with three lanes in each direction. The road includes making a new intersection that leads to the College of Arts and Social sciences at the Sultan Qaboos University, with traffic signals.
"Ten rainwater drainages have been made in four locations along the road, with the appropriate lighting in accordance with the approved specifications, and the construction of pedestrian lanes of 6 km long."
