Minister of Commerce and Industry issues decision on supervisory panel for OCCI board of directors elections

Muscat: Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry has issued a ministerial decision No. (225/2017) on the formation of a committee to oversee the elections of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the boards of its branches and its terms of reference.
The committee is chaired by Eng. Ahmed bin Hasan Al Theeb, Undersecretary of Commerce and Industry with two members from the Ministry of Interior, one representative from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Legal Affairs, and two representatives with expertise and competence selected by the Chairman of the Committee.
The decision also includes the terms of reference, and its work mechanism. The committee is responsible for overseeing the elections and forming sub-committees for elections in the governorates and supervising their work. The committee shall determine the date and time of the vote and announce them. It shall set the date of commencement and expiry of the application for candidacy, submit candidacy applications, announce them and extend them, the date of withdrawal of candidacy applications, examination of candidacy applications for membership of the Board of Directors of OCCI and the boards of its branches, as well as answering the objections provided for, and the adoption of final lists of voters and candidates.
Applications for nomination to the Committee shall be submitted on the form prepared for this purpose, together with the required documents.
