Muscat bourse recovers on buying support

Muscat: Telecom stocks drove the MSM30 Index to close on positive note at 5,114.67 points, up by 0.60 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 730.41 points, marginally down by 0.02 per cent. Al Anwar Holding was the most active, while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Omantel up 5.33 per cent while the top loser was Oman Chlorine, with a loss of 9.84 per cent.
A total number of 604 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating a turnover of OMR1.56 million with 6.05 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded securities, 4 advanced, 15 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. Omani Investors switched were net buyers for OMR429,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR227,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR202,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index down by 0.26 per cent to close at 7,396.08 points. Gulf Investment Services and Bank Muscat increased by 1.22 per cent and 1.01 per cent, respectively. Al Anwar Holding, Bank Nizwa, Al Madina Takaful and Al Sharqiya Investment declined by 2.60 per cent, 1.08 per cent, 0.98 per cent and 0.93 per cent, respectively.
Industry Index ended at 6,743.72 points, down by 0.81 per cent. Oman Chlorine, Oman Cables, Oman Flour Mills and Galfar Engineering declined by 9.84 per cent, 4.65 per cent, 2.19 per cent and 1.25 per cent, respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.39 per cent to close at 2,598.93 points. Omantel, and Oreedoo Oman increased by 5.33 per cent and 2.32 per cent, respectively. Oman National Engineering, OIFC, Al Maha Petroleum and Shell Oman Marketing declined by 4.76 per cent, 2.77 per cent, 0.70 per cent, 0.49 per cent and 0.28 per cent, respectively.
