Almost one farm fire every day in Oman last year

Muscat: Emergency responsders are pleading with farmers to dispose of agricultural waste properly, while revealing that there were 354 farm fires in Oman last year.
The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) revealed: "354 farm fires were recorded due to the wrong way in agricultural waste disposal in 2016 and the situation still continues."
On Tuesday, "agricultural land caught fire near a number of farms in Al Owaida area in the wilayat of Dhank. Fire-fighting teams from the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance tackled the blaze,” the authority said in a statement.
PACDA asked all citizens to realise the importance of disposal of agricultural waste in a safe and secure manner, to keep crops and trees safe.
