Muscat bourse rises lifted by partial recovery in telecom shares

Muscat: Partial recovery in telecoms lifted the MSM30 Index to 5,010.66 points, up 0.57 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index gained 0.48 per cent to close at 731.62 points. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was Al Maha Ceramics, up 4.07 per cent while Gulf Investment Services was the top loser, down 2.67 per cent.
A total number of 775 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating turnover of OMR1.68 million with 12.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded securities, 13 advanced, 6 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the end of the trading session, Local Investors remained net buyers for OMR71,000 followed by Foreign Investors for OMR59,000 while GCC & Arab Investors were net sellers for OMR130,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index had marginal gain of 0.12 per cent to end at 7,145.02 points. Al Anwar Holding, Taageer Finance, NBO, Al Izz Bank and Bank Muscat gained 3.08 per cent, 2.73 per cent, 1.65 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively. Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Investments, Oman & Emirates Holding, Bank Nizwa and Al Sharqia Investments declined 2.67 per cent, 1.75 per cent, 1.28 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively.
Industry Index increased 0.57 per cent to finish at 6,756.33 points. Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Fisheries, Al Anwar Ceramics and Galfar Engineering increased 4.07 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.57 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 2,545.38 points, up 0.66 per cent. Omantel, Sembcorp Salalah, OIFC and Ooredoo gained 3.06 per cent, 2.23 per cent, 0.76 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively. National Gas, down 1.95 per cent, was the only loser.
